Introducing the Sugarplum Quilt Along
Ready for your next Quilt Along? It happens every single year around this time. The calendar turns, the countdown to the holidays begins, and every quilter reaches for their stash to start planning a cozy festive project!
If you know me, you know that nothing makes me happier than digging into a scrap bin, mixing favorite prints, and creating a quilt that feels full of joy. Over the last few months in the studio, local designer Sue Pelland of Sue Pelland Designs and I have been cooking up a joint project designed to celebrate that exact feeling.
We are officially launching the Sugarplum Quilt Along, a stress free biweekly sewing project running from now through early November!
A Look at the Design
Sugarplum is built around joyful, wreath-style blocks framed by a scrappy half square triangle border.
- Generous Sizing: The quilt finishes at 81″ x 81″ in the original layout. If you prefer a smaller throw or lap size, you can easily customize the final dimensions simply by trimming or leaving off the outer borders.
- Scrap-Friendly Border: That outer Half-Square Triangle border was specifically designed to help you clear out your stash of low volume light fabrics!
- Color Versatility: Classic holiday greens and reds make this design shine, but it looks equally stunning in any color combination. Try a moody autumn palette, bright spring florals, or a scrappy cool winter mix.
What to Expect & How We Are Sewing Together
We wanted this to feel like a true community sew-along with zero pressure. We are wrapping up in early November so you can have your quilt completed before holiday season kicks into full gear.

- YouTube Video Series: Sue and I have recorded a full, step-by-step video tutorial series to guide you through every stage of the project. Be sure to hit subscribe on my YouTube channel so you receive updates as new videos drop!
- Facebook Group: Join our dedicated Facebook community to post your fabric options, ask questions, and share progress with fellow quilters.
- Live Zoom Finale: Once we complete the final blocks in early November, we will host a live Zoom party so everyone can show off their finished quilt tops and celebrate together!
