I’ve been looking forward to sharing this project for some time… This is the Freedom Quilt, the fourth project in Text It and a quilt that is really special to me.

At first glance this quilt might make you feel patriotic, maybe it represents a loved one who has protected our freedom… the definition reads:
noun
the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
It can also have a meaning that is more personal – Maybe to you it represents a Freedom of expression, a Freedom from addiction, the Freedom to make choices, or the Freedom from fear ~

I’ve been using words in my quilts for some time and I find that it empowers me and lifts me up to focus on these words as I stitch. If you make this quilt you will understand the power in this word more than ever. That is my hope.

Tara and I have become friends over social media during the planning of this hop. Sounds silly, but I think we bonded over this quilt… I was following her quilt journey on social media, and it was really fun for me to watch it come together. Jen Shaffer – Patterns by Jen
Jen shares her freedom quilt with us and her love of quilting through her blog Patterns by Jen. Her work can be seen in a handful of McCalls Quick Quilts and she caters to new quilters. Jen offers some fun quilt-a-longs, a 2019 Color Challenge, plus workshops and trunk shows with over 30 quilts to share! My first thought was how wonderful this quilt would be for “Quilts of Valor”… but you are right, the FREEDOM could be from anything.
