Meditation Mat Pattern & Night Rainbow Fabrics

Hello Quilters!

I feel as though I have been in a time warp lately! It’s been a minute since I’ve been able to post about my recent shenanigans and projects… and I have so many things to share!

Before I get into the night rainbow tour, if you are new here, I’m Sherri and I’m your host on the tour today! I’ve been designing patterns now for over a decade (oh my gosh!) I love to teach all things quilt related, and I host BOM programs as well as Quilt Retreats. Welcome to my quilty website! Please take a moment to comment, I will be giving away a pattern of your choice from my shop at the end of the tour!

Today is all about the new Night Rainbow fabric collection by Deb Fisher for Windham Fabrics that is hitting stores!!

I must tell you that when I received the fabric I was really impressed with the quality… and I’m not embarrassed to say that I have pet my share of fabrics (hehe) and this fabric has the most beautiful drape! Wonderful!

To be honest, I had so many ideas for this fabric line… I mean, look at the inspiration shown in these photos below from The Windham Fabrics catalog! I might need to buy some of that canvas because I’m obsessed with those bags! And the animals are so stinkin’ cute!!!

My mind was going crazy with ideas and I still have a few!!! But today on the tour, I will be sharing my Bohemian Meditation Mat. A little back-story… I have made these meditation mats as gifts for my mindful friends. The last one I made was in 2020 when i was in lockdown and I am happy to report I’ve put the pattern together. You can make these blocks into a Meditation Mat or go ahead and sew more blocks to make it a larger quilt size.

I began with another project but Night Rainbow was just screaming to be made into these blocks with its bold stripes and prints… so quirky and gorgeous!!

Now that my little meditation mat done, I’ll be offering a facing tutorial on my finish along with the pattern. Facing is an alternative to binding, resulting in the binding showing on the back side of the quilt only. You can see a little reel of this on my instagram if you want to pop over there.

There are several stops on the tour and you won’t want to miss what everyone is making!

  1. I am always inspired by your beautiful artistry.
I would love to make the meditation mat for my Daughter who shares an interest in meditation.

  2. Oh Sheri, the rainbow colors are so bright and beautiful…exactly ones that I would use. Since it is one of the coldest and wettest winters on record in Cape Town, I would definitely be making those bright cheery fabrics into the warmest snuggle quilt possible. Hugs to you and enjoy your summer!

  3. Hello Sherri, I’m obsessed with the design and colors of your mediation mat! I haven’t stopped looking at it and how you put colors together. Thank you for sharing your talent! I think I might get a little risky and try a Dresden plate quilt with the Night Rainbow fabric matching one of the lightest fabrics in the line with a soft grunge for the background. Thanks again, I love your emails! Joanne
