Happy October!
Dear Diary Chapter 10 is…
Speak, your truth, for yourself
The meaning is simple, it’s just about being honest with yourself and others… coupled with having your own voice.
I think it helps me grow as a person and be accepting of myself and others. Makes sense, right? :)
If you’re working on this chapter – BE WARNED…. there is a lot of applique in this block and you (always) need to cut your background larger than the finished size because it will shrink! So give yourself about 1/2″ extra in both directions and trim to size after all your applique is complete… be aware of this when placing your applique so you have room for trimming!
You will want to take your time with the word bubble… applique the word SPEAK first before marking and trimming the bubble.
You can use a light box or window to center the word into the bubble.
Use the template to also trace a bubble on your background piece for placement of the bias tape. Don’t let the glue in the photo confuse you… I was using that to baste my red bubble in place for stitching after my bias was complete. I used pre-fused bias tape from Clover. I bought it from amazon here(affiliate link), and you can see a video of me using it for a word here. It comes in black and silver as well… I’m addicted.
I added a backstitch in red pearl cotton to outline the bubble and gold bias…
Two more months to go!
See you next month!!
